Recruiting headache

THE south west has been named as the worst region in the UK for small businesses looking to recruit qualified staff.

Research from business event organisers B2B Portfolio has revealed that one in 10 SMEs in the region are being forced to wait more than two months to find the right candidate.

Time and money constraints in the recruitment process were cited as the main reason for the failure of the region's small business community to assemble an effective workforce.

Some firms are receiving an increasing number of applications from candidates who lack experience or appropriate personal qualities.
