LEE Beavis scored his first goal for two years on Tuesday night but then warned his new Melksham Town team mates they had better not expect him to become a regular goalscorer.
The strong defender has made a big impression at The Conigre since signing from Calne Town just over a week ago, in both halves of the pitch, but admits his creative flair has come as even a surprise to him.
Beavis had a goal disallowed in Saturday's FA Cup draw with Westbury before whipping in a right wing cross for Nick Ridout's equaliser and then got on the scoresheet in Tuesday's replay.
He said: "I can't quite believe it. I was gutted my goal on Saturday didn't count because that would have been my first in two years but then to score again on Tuesday night was great.
"I hope the lads aren't expecting me to keep doing that because in the past couple of years it is unusual for me to go past the halfway line."
Beavis left Devizes in the summer and after much interest opted to join Western League Premier Division new boys Calne.
But after a fortnight of no first-team action he quickly moved on to Melksham.
He said: "I just want to play football and I wasn't doing that at Calne. They had three quality centre backs from last season and it was going to be very hard for me to break into the first team.
"I am enjoying it at Melksham and they have got a very young and exciting side.
