United turn to striker Heard

WESTBURY United have signed former Trowbridge Town striker Jack Heard ahead of Monday's Western League division one clash against Biddestone.

With several of Paul Brickley's squad facing suspensions this month, the United manager moved quickly to bring Heard to Meadow Lane after missing the last year of football.

Heard has previously enjoyed spells at Corsham Town, Melksham Town and Trowbridge but announced he had quit football after a cruciate knee injury.

The 23-year-old has since undergone a successful operation on the injury and is relishing the chance to getting back into Western League football.

Brickley said: "I know Jack quite well and am giving him the chance to prove himself again. I took him to Melksham's youth side when he was 15 and I am looking forward to working with him again.

"We are a bit short on options this month due to suspensions, especially strikers, and so I though I would move quickly and bring him in."

Westbury play Biddestone at Chippenham Town's ground on Monday night having beaten them 4-0 at home a fortnight ago.

Brickley said: "I am expecting a tough game against them. I thought they were quite good against us earlier this season, although a lot of people didn't, and I am sure they will be fired up for it."
