Walkers sought for Imber exercise

A SPONSORED walk through the deserted village of Imber on the Salisbury Plain will take place on September 11.

The 10-mile trek, in aid of the Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, offers walkers the unusual opportunity to visit the restricted Imber Ranges, which were requisitioned by the army in 1943.

The area is still used for military exercises and walkers are reminded to stick to the asphalt route at all times.

There is a minimum contribution of £25 for families of up to six people and £10 for individual walkers.

Wheelchair users, who may be accompanied by up to four pushers, are asked to raise £25.

A free barbecue lunch will be available upon completion of the course and walkers will also receive a certificate and a medal.

To order a sponsorship form, contact the Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Centre on (01985) 217728 or call in at their head- quarters in The Avenue, Warminster.
