Adam puts Purton lads miles ahead!

ADAM Miles produced an extraordinary batting performance at under 15 level in the Wiltshire Youth League.

Miles's innings was the highlight of Purton's 130-run victory over Calne, as he and fellow opener Elliott Hill (30) put on 102 runs for the opening wicket.

Following his dismissal, Miles then dominated the game to such an extent that he scored all but two of the remaining runs off the bat as Purton totalled 259-8.

Miles finished on 177 not out, Andrew Windsor (4-18) and Oliver Wall (2-30) the pick of the bowling for Calne.

Shane Gough (3-27), Adam Corcoran (3-28) and Miles himself (2-26) then bowled Calne out for 129 to give Purton victory by 130 runs. Matthew Bevan (31) provided the most resistance for Calne.

Wootton Bassett secured top spot in the Under 13 Red Division of the Wiltshire Youth League after a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Malmesbury.

Inspired bowling from Dean Williamson (5-11 off 7 overs) was supported by Jack Paish (2-2) and Sam Packer (2-15) as Malmesbury were dismissed for 55. Williamson (29 not out) then saw Bassett home.

Swindon had to be content with runners-up spot, Devizes conceding their game, while Wootton Bassett will now face Under 13 Blue winners South Wilts in the play-off final at Chippenham this Sunday.

In the Under 13 Blue Division, Chippenham clinched a nine-wicket win over Shrivenham.

Opener Alex Kill (46) was the leading Shrivenham batsman at Chippenham as his side totalled 120 all out.

In reply, opener James Bull hit 70 not out.
