Print works for North Wilts!

The Swindon Advertiser ran a story in July appealing for a new backer for the ever-expanding North Wilts & District Youth League, of which Swindon Town legend Don Rogers is president.

As a direct result, printing company ESP Colour stepped in with a lucrative offer.

Margaret Rivers, the league's general secretary, said: "I was going round to different printing firms to get quotes for producing our handbooks.

"Tony Warrington at ESP mentioned that he'd seen the article in the Advertiser.

"He's the chairman at Fairford Youth and runs a team in our league. The MD there is also a big football fan and a massive fan of Don Rogers.

"Tony said he was interested in helping out and asked how much we were looking for.

"They have agreed to produce our handbooks which would have cost about £1,000.

"And they will give us a monthly sum too.

"In total it's worth £2,350 to the league over the course of the season.

"That money will be put towards the cup finals at the end of the season and brings down the individual cost to our clubs."

Rogers was at the firm's Elgin Drive base to examine the initial proofs of the handbooks.

He said: "It's great news.

"After chatting to them (ESP), they are already talking about extending their support into next year as well."

The league has been a huge success since forming just over two years ago.

The forthcoming season will see nearly 4,000 players registered in the 27 different divisions.

Its continued growth and the faultless organisation by the committee members prompted ESP to offer a helping hand financially.

Spokesman Warrington said: "After growing up playing local football we wanted to put something back into the community.

"I run Fairford under 15s and I'm chairman of the club's youth set-up.

"I know first hand what a great job the league's organisers do and we're happy to help them out."

The new North Wilts & District League season kicks off on Sunday, September 4.
