Centre halves its employee turnover

A SWINDON conference centre is in the running for a business award for innovation.

Alexandra House, in Wroughton, which opened in May, has been singled out for its innovative recruitment system, which has halved staff turnover for its owners Hayley Conference Centres.

The company, which operates eight residential conference and training venues, has been shortlisted by Personnel Today magazine for its achievements in recruiting and retaining staff, alongside high street firms, Asda and Matalan.

The system, known as the Hayley Way, has changed the business culture.

Group training manager Moira Snape said: "Since we introduced this new system we have cut our staff turnover from 80 per cent to just 39.

"In an industry where the average turnover is above 80 per cent this is a significant achievement.

"Our aim now is to get this down further."
