AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of Paul McGuire. The married 33-year-old, from Greatfield, near Hook, died after apparently falling into a recycling machine.
The accident happened last Tuesday at a recycling centre in Cricklade.
His distraught widow, Sophie, 26, wants to know how the accident happened.
Last week she told the Advertiser: "Paul was more than experienced with regard to waste and recycling and there is no way he would put himself at risk. I have to find out how my husband lost his life."
The couple married at Swindon Register Office last November and were planning to start a family.
Paul, originally from Calne, was in the Army for ten years, serving in Kosovo and Northern Ireland. He had been working at the site for three months.
Nicola Dowlen, a spokeswoman for Sita UK, which owns the firm, confirmed an investigation is underway. The Health and Safety Executive has also been called in. At a brief hearing on Friday, Wiltshire coroner David Masters confirmed Mr McGuire's details.
The full inquest will take place at a later date.
