Birdman Tonyloses his title

GLIDING enthusiast, Tony Hughes has lost out on his International Bognor Birdman title. Mr Hughes, 49, from Marlborough, lost out on the title at a mircolight flying competition at Bognor Pier.

The enthusiast, who runs a Wiltshire microlight company, was raising money for the Whales and Dolphin Conservation Society.

He managed to soar for 68.8 metres from the pier, before plunging into the sea, but it was not enough for him to beat rival Ron Freeman, who managed to glide 100 metres.
