Owner hurt as gang breaks in

A GANG forced their way in to a house, assaulted the elderly owner and stole more than £2,000 worth of goods.

They then drove off before dumping their getaway car and setting fire to it.

The victim was left shaken, with cuts and bruises.

The three men broke in to the house in Badbury, near Chiseldon between 5.20pm and 6.10pm on Friday.

Once inside they attacked the occupant, a man in his 60s, before stealing cash and other items.

The Rover they used to escape in was later found burned out on Ladysmith Road, Chiseldon, at 6.20pm.

Police are appealing for any witness to what DC Nick Mawson described as a "particularly nasty attack". They are keen to trace a male jogger who spoke to the victim minutes before the incident.

Anyone with information should call Swindon police on 01793 528111 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
