Curry contest is hotting up

A SWINDON restaurant has made it through to the final stages of a national curry competition.

The Jewel in the Crown in Victoria Road was chosen from 13,000 contestants as one of only 100 restaurants to continue in the British Curry Awards.

From this shortlist, judges will choose a further 30 finalists to compete for the top ten awards and a £1,000 prize.

The announcement will be made in a star-studded dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London's Park Lane on September 25.

Muzammil Ali, the restaurant proprietor, pictured, has high hopes.

He said: "Obviously it would be a big award. We'll have a party if we win."
