Tough for Wiltshire

WILTSHIRE face a massive run chase at Corsham if they are to end their 2005 Minor Counties Championship season on a high with a second successive win.

They need a further 408 runs with nine wickets remaining to reach the unlikely target of 455 runs set by Devon.

Resuming at 132-5 overnight Wiltshire only added 58 for the loss of their remaining five wickets on day two to trail by 133 runs.

The only significant contributions came from Richard Bedbrook with 40 runs, Damian Shirazi 38, James Golding 35 and Kevin Blackburn 30.

For Devon, Andy Procter returned 5-50 while Ian Bishop took 3-54.

In their second innings, Devon struck 321 for the loss of eight wickets off 77 overs before deciding to declare.

David Lye struck 84, the same score as in his first innings, while Sandy Allen hit 74 and Andy Pugh 40.

Top bowler for Wiltshire was James Hayward with a fine 5-93 while Shirazi took 2-23.

The home side were 47-1 at the close off 13 overs. Blackburn was run out for nought but Shirazi was 29 not out and Michael Coles 13 no.
