Appeal on hit and run

POLICE are appealing for help from Wiltshire residents to track down a driver involved in a fatal road crash.

Great grandmother Diana Phillips, 83, from Frome was killed in the hit and run accident in Vallis Road, Frome at about 8.15pm on August 3, and police believe the car involved may be from Wiltshire.

The car is a dark coloured Volvo 850 which is believed to have a damaged front.

Detective Inspector Damian Kearney said: "This is an appalling crime that led to the death of an innocent 83-year-old who was simply walking the short distance home, having visited her husband in a nearby residential home."

The driver, a white man, continued along the A362 towards Radstock after the crash.

Anyone with information or any garage which has been asked to repair a vehicle of a similar description should contact the police incident room on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
