Kennet and Avon Canal

VISITORS are being given the chance to enjoy the canal without the hassle of traffic jams and parking.

The Kennet and Avon Canal has launched its own Sunday Wigglybus service.

Oliver Giles, rural transport partnership officer for the canal, said: "The Wigglybus is a great way to see the countryside and the canal and also gives people without access to a car the opportunity to get out and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire."

Running on summer Sundays and August Bank Holiday Monday, the Bradford on Avon (line 55) and Vale of Pewsey (line 66) shuttle buses allow canal visitors to travel between Bradford and Great Bedwyn.

The times have been designed to fit with rail services and fares start from as little as £1 for adults and 20p for young people.

The buses can carry pushchairs, wheelchairs and bikes, and well-behaved dogs are also welcome.

As well as the Wigglybus, there is the option to take one of six Wigglywalks along the canal between Devizes and Crofton.

Timetables and Canal Wigglywalks leaflets are available at TICs, libraries, local train stations and canal visitor centres. For more information, visit www.wigglybus.org
