Two motorcycle crashes

TWO accidents involving motorcycles happened on the same road within an hour of each other. At 12.50pm last Thursday, a rider came off his bike after a collision on the A345 between High Post and Low Flying Corner. Four other cars and a van were also involved in the crash.

The motorcycle burst into flames and firefighters were called to the scene. The rider and the van driver were taken to Salisbury District Hospital and another motorist was treated for minor injuries.

Less than an hour later, another crash happened further up the A345, at the junction with Countess Road North and the road to Woodhenge. A Volkswagen Golf being driven by a 28-year-old Amesbury woman was coming out of the junction when it collided with a motorbike.

The 17-year-old rider, who was also from Amesbury, was airlifted to Salisbury District Hospital and his injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening. The Golf driver was shaken but unhurt.

Witnesses to either accident are asked to call Salisbury traffic police, on 01722 435356.
