Teenager dragged off bike by man

AUGUST 6: IRATE Kevin Logan dragged a 15-year-old leaflet dropper off his bike, a court heard.

The 46-year-old from Croome Close, Priory Vale, yesterday admitted common assault.

Lynne Henderson, prosecuting at Swindon Magistrates' Court, said that the victim was left shocked after the incident on May 22 this year.

She alleged Logan also punched the teenager and kicked him twice while he was on the ground.

This was contested by Logan's lawyer Michaela Rose who argued the victim's injuries were as a result of the fall and said her client admitted dragging the victim off his bike but denied any further act of aggression.

Mrs Henderson said that the teenager was delivering leaflets to addresses in Croome Close when the defendant came out of his house and swore at him.

"The defendant then dragged the injured party off his bike and kicked him," she said.

Another child a friend of the victim witnessed the attack.

"The defendant then dragged the injured party off his bike and kicked him," she said.

"The defendant grabbed the boy's shoulder bag and punched him in the face.

"While he was on the ground the victim alleges that he was kicked twice by the defendant."

Mrs Henderson said: "He told officers that he had lived there for 13 months during which time he says trespassers have used his land to access others.

"He had endeavoured to verbally challenge anyone he saw on his property."

Miss Rose said the boy's injuries were as a result of the fall and not a sustained assault.

"My client has said in interview that there was a dispute because the victim and his friend had crossed on to his property," she said.

"There was a verbal altercation. He (Logan) accepts behaving recklessly but he does not accept punching or kicking him."

Roger Arnold-Shrubb, chairman of the bench, adjourned the case until September 22 so witnesses could be called.
