Where do these figures come from?

THE article regarding the average hourly pay rate for Swindon had my jaw hitting the floor. Where do these figures come from?

I am an experienced secretary/administrator and the highest hourly rate I have been paid in the last 12 months was £8.50.

I was recently offered a government agency position on a salary of £6 per hour and this was working within a department dealing with very confidential and sensitive matters.

Barely above the rate for working in McDonald's.

These average wage figures obviously come from those in senior management positions but are certainly not the average for ordinary people.

To suggest that it is only foreign workers who receive lower pay rates is ridiculous. I have lived here all my life and have never received anything like the figure quoted.

It is an insult to those of us that work damned hard for a lot less to presume we must be doing menial jobs to be on a lower pay scale.
