Funeral rivals in battle over name

FUNERAL director Ian Newman spoke this week of the trauma his family and firm have suffered during a long-running court battle with rival undertaker Richard Adlem.

Mr Newman, who has funeral businesses in Salisbury and Fordingbridge, bought Mr Adlem's former business in Sixpenny Handley in 2000.

But after they had been practising under the name I N Newman & Richard Adlem for nine months, Mr Adlem again began practising under his name - and a bitter legal row broke out over the use of the 'Richard T Adlem' name.
