Headteacher Kay Vousden and Calne Mayor Cathy Bowyer with pupils 16427/2 CALNE Mayor Cathy Bowyer joined the celebrations at Heddington CE Primary School after it was given its Investors in People Award.
The school was given the award for commitment to improve through training its staff to a high standard, in order to ensure the best possible education for the children.
Also joining the celebrations in the village hall was a representative of the county education department, governors, parents and friends from the village.
Kay Vousden, Heddington's head teacher, said she was delighted the school had achieved the award.
She stressed however, that the school could not rest on its laurels and must continue to find ways to improve.
She said: "We are certainly happy to achieve the award, because it shows that we are investing in our people and we have in place the right structure to be successful.
"It means that we're making sure all our staff are all trained properly and are all pulling in the same direction.
"It has taken us about a year to achieve the award.
"Now we just have to make sure that we continue to work really hard and that we continue to move forward."
The award can be taken away if the school fails a reassessment, but Mrs Vousden said she has no intention of allowing that to happen.
"They come back and reassess us within three years to see if we are still achieving the same standards," she said.
"Obviously we have to make sure that we continue to move in the right direction because we certainly don't want the award to be taken away from us."
