Adams aiming to bounce back

LEIGH ADAMS will be looking to put the Cardiff woes behind him in Copenhagen this weekend.

The Robins skipper had a nightmare British Grand Prix a fortnight ago in the Welsh capital and failed to reach a semi-final for the first time in almost two years.

And it was a night to forget for practically all of the leading contenders, except Sweden's superstar and former world champion Tony Rickardsson.

While Adams, Jason Crump, Nicki Pedersen and Greg Hancock, to name a few, were falling by the wayside, the immaculate Rickardsson strode to victory.

The 25 points propelled the Swede well clear of the field and on course for a sixth world title.

Adams is now 46 points behind Rickardsson (95pts) in fourth place but only 14 adrift of Crump and three of Nicki Pedersen.

The Robins skipper desperately wants to improve on his fourth spot overall for the last three years and therefore has every incentive to bounce back tonight in the Danish Grand Prix.

Adams said on his website: "It took me a few days to get over Cardiff.

"We had a league match the following day and that wasn't really what I needed, but you just get on with it.

" I've had a few problems with some aspects of my team that were playing on my mind and I've now sorted that out so I feel a lot better.

"I feel good now and I'm looking forward to at least a 30 per cent improvement in Denmark, when compared with my last result (seven points Cardiff)."

Lee Richardson has had a wretched season so far in the GP series with illness and bike problems tonight in Copenhagen would be an ideal time to reach his first semi-final of the season.

Swindon Robins will have two other representatives on duty in Copenhagen as Charlie Gjedde, who is in fine form at the moment, and doubling-up reserve Mads Korneliussen are named by the Danish Motor Union as the track reserves.
