School issue is a shambles

IT'S good to see the Ministers backing the decision to close Saltway School, after all, running an education system with surplus capacity does not make sound financial sense.

However, I bet those same Ministers did not get to hear of the shambolic way the borough council has managed this whole issue.

The school was set to close, then it wasn't, then it might have been, then it might have been reprieved and now this "final" announcement.

However, where is the logic in closing a school and distributing pupils to smaller, less well-equipped and older facilities?

Why should parents who currently walk their children to school (and moved to the area because of this) have to face the financial burden of paying for public transport to ensure their children get to school?

I bet the council won't pay for bus transportation, and if it did it would probably make financial nonsense of the decision to close the school.

Unless, of course, the council has already decided what it will be doing with the land selling it off to a property developer perhaps?

A friend of mine believes this may already have happened who knows?

I just know the whole process has been handled in an unplanned and shambolic manner.
