Prime suspect in Hayley killing held

THE prime suspect for the murder of pregnant Hayley Richards has been arrested in Spain, police have said. Hugo Quintas, the ex-boyfriend of 23-year-old Miss Richards, was arrested by Spanish police in the Basque region.

Hayley was found dead at her home in Trowbridge on June 11 with her throat cut. Hayley's family gave their reaction to the arrest in a statement. "Our family have been devastated at the loss of Hayley.

"We can't begin to express our relief that someone has been arrested in connection with her murder.

"We want to say again that our family have no problems with Portuguese people in this area, and Hayley would have felt the same. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Wiltshire Constabulary, the Spanish and Portuguese authorities and all the other agencies that have assisted in bringing about the arrest of Hugo Quintas.

"We would also like to thank the people of Trowbridge for the sympathy they have expressed and the support they have given to the investigation.

"Again, we request that we are left alone to grieve."
