SAM Parkin has now spoken to Watford about a move to Vicarage Road although the Tractor Boys could yet launch a sting to deny the Hornets their man.

The Evening Advertiser understands the striker has listened to what Adrian Boothroyd has to say and will now await further developments.

Parkin, pictured, said: "The situation doesn't frighten me. As I've said, I want to make sure I make the right decision.

"I know it's a bit of a soap opera but you have to try and stay cool."

Both Ipswich Town and Norwich City are waiting in the wings although it is purely at Town's discretion whether or not they grant Parkin permission to speak to either party.

The internet was awash with rumours yesterday, with reports that Ipswich were prepared to offer a large sum with further payments to follow based on promotion.

Norwich, Ipswich's bitter rivals, are also keen to add to their strikeforce and Nigel Worthington could see Parkin as the man to partner (or replace) Dean Ashton.

However, the player has had no contact with either club at this stage although there is no question that he would be more than happy to do so.

Ipswich came within a whisker of reaching the Premiership last season while
