Children who took part in the sponsored walk for the Make A Wish Foundation at Heywood Preparatory School 16390/02YOUNG pupils at Heywood Preparatory School in Corsham put their best foot forward for last week's fundraiser.
Raising money for the Make A Wish Foundation, all 220 youngsters took part in a sponsored walk around Meriton recreation ground.
Mums and dogs also turned out to walk with the children.
Three of the children managed 33 laps, almost 11km.
Oliver Warren-Fisher, from year three and Owen May and Philip Smith from year six all broke the previous school record with 33 laps and received a prize.
Over the five days they also sold cakes and toys on stalls in the playground, challenged the goalie with a penalty shoot-out, and threw a wet sponge at fellow classmates.
The children chose to raise money for the charity, which grants wishes for tots with life-threatening medical conditions.
They believe they have raised more than £2,000.
Headteacher Pamela Hall said the children chose to support the foundation after watching an emotional video in an assembly in May.
"Although in the past we have supported bigger charities, the appeal of this one was that we could see a child get their wish granted. The pupils can relate to that more."
She said: "The fundraiser was great. The pupils have fun and they raise money for other people, which is nice.
"They learn to care for children who aren't as lucky as themselves."
