Time to clear up after pop star sweeps in for concert

Badcy Fernandas takes the broom to bottles and beer cans after the Elton John concert Picture Ref: 78015-263HE delighted thousands of fans on Sunday evening but by last night there should have been no sign Elton John was ever in town.

A massive clear-up operation swung into action as soon as Elton left the stage and the County Ground was set to return from a concert arena to a football stadium by last night.

Ron Topp, stadium manager, was delighted with the way the event went.

"It was a terrific night for the club and the public," he said.

He added that the stadium would almost definitely hold more concerts after the success.

But on Sunday night and yesterday all his efforts were going into getting the ground back to normal.

"Immediately Elton John went off the stage the crew moved in," he said yesterday afternoon.

"Then our guys went in to start moving stuff off the pitch.

And there is good news for any football fans worried about the state the pitch.

"It is excellent," said Mr Topp.

"It hasn't damaged it at all."
