Shane Owens, Nicole Asia Freeman, Nathan Tearle and Claire Parkinson Ref: 77984-02THE winners of this year's Old Town Pop Idol contest are nine-year-old Nicole Asia Freeman from the under 10s category and 12-year-old Genevieve Aylott from the under 16s group.

At the contest on Friday evening at Commonweal School Nicole performed My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion and Genevieve sang The Closet Thing to Crazy by Katie Melua. They have both won a cup and £20 each.

Brian Mattock who organised the contest said: "The winners were fantastic and they were both invited to appear at the Old Town Festival dinner on Saturday night .

"Everyone who took part was of a high standard and it was a great event which raised well over £250 for the festival."
