He's still standing

THROUGH the last few decades Elton fans have been treated continuously to his eye-dazzling flamboyant taste in clothes.

The big glasses, the flares of the Seventies, the giant shoulder pads and the platform shoes so tall that they would give anyone else vertigo have all been part of his spectacular wardrobe.

His taste in clothes have made him a fashion icon in every decade and he is bound to hold a few surprises up his ruffled sleeve when he takes to the stage in Swindon tomorrow night.

He is one of the most commercially successful entertainers of the last 30 years and his style is something that has always differentiated him from the pack.

But it is his dazzling musical talent that have made him the superstar he is today and most people would thank his mother for forcing him to play piano as a toddler, until he won a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music.

His songs can be heard being hummed in every part of the country and his hits such as Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road are as well known as the national anthem.

In 1997 he captured the nation's hearts with his performance of Candle In The Wind at his friend Princess Diana's funeral. The record went on to become the biggest selling single in the UK after more than five million people bought it.

It is a sure thing that he will capture the heart of Swindon when he takes to the stage tomorrow evening.

Showtime

Fans of the Rocket Man will finally get to see their hero tomorrow when Sir Elton John performs at the County Ground.

His support will be Lulu and she will be kicking off the show at 6pm. Elton will be wowing the crowds at 7.20pm.

Contrary to previous reports, people are asked to take their seats for the concert at 5.10pm.

Previous reports had given the times for Gold ticket holders who have to be in their seats by 5.30pm.

During the past 48 hours, 125 workmen have been working around the clock transforming the County Ground into a venue fit for the king of pop.
