SWINDON Council says it can help people with wheelie bins if they are disabled.
Christine Nardoni, 44, of Castleton Road, Middleleaze, who suffers with back problems, was worried she would not be able to get her bin to the end of her garden for collectors without injuring herself.
But the council has a plan to help.
Miss Nardoni, who is registered disabled, said: "At the moment my daughter is living with me and so can put the bin out.
"But this is only temporary and when she moves out I don't know how I'll be able to move the bin from my porch to the end of the road where it gets collected."
Richard Freeman, a council spokeswoman, said: "Anyone who is disabled or infirm and is unable to manage their wheelie bin can request either an assisted collection, or a smaller bin.
"Residents are advised to contact the council if they feel they need either option and they will receive a visit to assess their needs," he said.
"An assisted collection means that refuse collectors will move the standard wheelie bin to and from an agreed point on a property when the collection is made, so the householder doesn't have to move the bin themselves."
