Warrior class

LEIGH ROBINSON takes out the latest from the Mitsubishi stable and is mistaken for a chauffeur "Ferrying celebrities around?" asked my colleague as I drove up in my black seven-seater Mitsubishi Grandis Warrior.

It was a reasonable guess, because with the 9 CCC number plate, it only needed the blacked out windows for me to have been that sort of chauffeur.

My neighbour who is something of a motoring buff and deals with Mercedes was drooling over this little things like the rear light section and the 18-inch alloy wheels of the Mitsubishi and he didn't know anything about the performance which is equally stunning.

This is a great family vehicle and it can quite easily seat seven in a 2-3-2 formation and still have enough room to get plenty of luggage in as well. The test vehicle had SatNav and a DVD player.

The Grandis ranges from the Classic through to the Equippe, Elegance and then Warrior with prices ranging from £18,500 through to £23,500. They are powered with the Mitsubishi 2.4 litre 16 valve four cylinder engine which gives lots of power for a big vehicle.

It is lower, sportier and sharper than its competitors and 0-62mph is reached in 10 seconds. Fuel consumption is around 30mpg for the combined figure, again the automatic is slightly less. The Grandis Warrior is the only size MPV to have a rear row of seats that can be individually folded away into the floor in a simple operation that takes just seconds.

This is another hit from Mitsubishi and all Grandis models come with a three year unlimited mileage warranty and a 12 year anti corrosion warranty.
