Barry wins top award

A COMMUNITY radio director from west Wiltshire has been recognised for his efforts.

Barry Mole, director of WCR Community Radio, has won one of only three national Community Media Volunteer of the Year accolades.

Paul Goggins, Minister for Community and Volunteering, presented Mr Mole with the award during a festival organised by the Community Media Associations in Sheffield on June 4 and 5.

Mr Mole said: "I feel very honoured by this, but it's very unexpected. I don't know why I was chosen, but I am flattered that I was.

"I have been training at Kingdown School in Warminster where I have been teaching young and old people, and Frome Community College, where I've been teaching teachers.

"They've also invited me to train radio presenters at Frome College for a one-off community broadcast."
