Vanessa, left, Dianne, centre, and Nicola A BRAVE mother-of-two will be joining her mother and sister on an Icelandic marathon next week despite suffering from cancer.
Vanessa Kyte, 40, her 43-year-old sister Nicola Noble and their mother, Dianne Young, 64, will set off on a 26-mile speed walk, in aid of Cancer Research and the Bristol Health Care Centre, on Friday. Mrs Young, from Corsley, said: "I can't tell you how proud we are of her. She is so determined to go ahead and do this."
Mrs Kyte, who lives in Rudge with her husband Mike and two daughters, Olivia, 14, and Molly, 11, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000.
The disease spread to her lungs and she underwent chemotherapy and a double mastectomy. Two months ago she received the devastating news that the cancer had returned and this week she learned she now has three tumours in her brain.
Mrs Young said: "She is the most beautiful girl and she listened to this news and was so serene.
"We have just got to be strong, do this walk and raise money so research may bring through more treatments so other people don't have to go through this."
Mrs Kyte will travel to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London on Monday to find out what her prognosis is.
The three women will be taking part in the Summer Solstice Moonwalk, when the participants will all be wearing brightly coloured bras to help raise awareness of breast cancer. Mrs Kyte has already taken part in other charity events and has raised £10,000 to help fellow breast cancer sufferers.
Mother-of-three Mrs Noble, of Warminster, decided at the last minute to join in the walk after hearing the news her sister's cancer had spread.
More than 200 runners are expected to take part, with others walking the route.
The marathon is organised by Walk the Walk, which holds similar events around the world to raise money for research into a disease that touches so many lives.
Mrs Young and her daughters, who are funding the trip to Iceland themselves, are hoping to raise at least £500 each, but recent events have delayed their fundraising efforts.
Anyone who would like to sponsor them can call Mrs Young on (01225) 832323.
