Sports hall opens

Following the ribbon cutting, pupils released balloons to celebrate the opening of the new school hallPUPILS past and present turned out to see a new sports hall unveiled at a west Wiltshire primary school.

Minster Primary School, in Warminster, capped five years of fundraising with the official unveiling of the hall on Monday.

More than 70 people were at the event, to see the school's oldest surviving pupil, Violet Burgess, 89, join the youngest pupil, Jessica Ilic, four, to open the hall.

Finance officer Isabel Dawson said: "It took a long time for us to get the hall under way, but after five years fundraising and funding from Sport England, we opened it."

England netball player Tamsin Greenway was at the event on behalf of Sport England.

A number of initiatives, including a Sponsor a Brick campaign, helped to raise the final total of £31,000.

The new hall features a climbing frame, wooden floor, and a sound system and gallery for use in school productions.
