FORMER Chippenham Town striker Adie Mings is Corsham Town's latest transfer target as manager Colin Bush bids to build a squad capable of emulating last season's runners-up finish.
Devizes stalwart Andy Coombes, Calne striker Gary Banks and Biddestone midfielder Dean Brookman are also on Bush's wish-list as he prepares for a new Screwfix League Premier Division campaign.
The Corsham boss also made tentative inquiries about Paulton Rovers striker Steve Tweddle but was instantly knocked back by the Southern League club.
Mings, 36, has been released by Weston-super-Mare by mutual consent and Bush has already approached him about next season.
Mings has also enjoyed spells at Bath City, Gloucester City, Forest Green Rovers, and was assistant manager at Chippenham Town under Tommy Saunders.
The powerful frontman has not committed himself but will be playing at the Southbank for the charity match, being held in honour of John Woods, next month.
Bush said: "At the moment it is all bit pie in the sky. But I have approached him and I think he might come training with us.
"He would be a fantastic signing for us and would complement Toby Colbourne and Alan Griffin very well. It is a mouth-watering prospect.
"I am not going to get carried away because he is a long way from being signed but we will see what happens in the next few weeks."
Devizes' Andy Coombes has agreed to come pre-season training with Corsham after spending the last 10 years at Nursteed Road.
With Nigel Curtis announcing his retirement this summer, Bush sees Coombes as the ideal replacement to partner Colin Towler in the heart of the defence.
Gary Banks has also agreed to move to the Southbank while Dean Brookman will train there during pre-season.
Bush said: "We had a magnificent season last year and we have to look at repeating that again in this campaign.
"It will not be easy because last year was a terrific achievement but hopefully with a few additions we can even emulate what we did. I think the key to it all is keeping quite a small squad because if I show loyalty to my players they will show me loyalty."
