Wiltshire 263-6, Hampshire 183

CHIPPENHAM'S James Vince and Courtenay Earl were instrumental in Wiltshire's crushing weekend victory over Hampsire.

Electing to bat on a good South Wilts wicket Wiltshire U14s suffered an immediate set back when James Bull (Chippenham) was caught behind for zeo.

Unphased by this early loss, both captain James Vince (74) and vice captain Robert Pittman (South Wilts, 31) set about constructing what was to prove to be a match-winning second wicket partnership of 115.

The loss of both these players merely saw another teammate continue the run spree with Medhi Ibrahim (Westbury, 62), Earl (25) and Jamie Crarer (South Wilts, 35) all contributing to the excellent final score of 263- 6 from their 50 overs.

If Hampshire were to exceed Wiltshire's large total several players needed to get in and this never really materialised as the minor county minnows kept the first class county innings firmly in check, chipping away at the Hampshire wickets throughout before finally being bowled out for a modest 183.

Pittman completed a fine all round game with 2-43 from his ten overs of off spin and Earl wrapping up the tail in quick fashion with 3-25.

Wiltshire will look to continue on with this good form as they entertain Isle Of Wight on Sunday at Biddestone Cricket Club, starting at 1pm.
