Lewis makes a dream start

SWINDON'S Jon Lewis, made a dream start on his one day debut for England, taking two early wickets against Bangladesh.

Lewis, who made the headlines after taking four wickets in the Twenty20 victory against Australia on Monday, continued his fine form as Michael Vaughan chose to put Bangladesh into bat in the first NatWest Series match.

And things could have been even better for Lewis when rain stopped play early this morning, as he was on a hat-trick.

Having taken the wickets of Javed Omar and Mohammad Ashraful in consecutive deliveries, Lewis came close to three, bowling a superb yorker defended well by Tushar Imran.

As the Evening Advertiser went to press this morning Bangladesh were 31-2 off seven overs after rain had stopped play.
