Justice catches up with pervert

FORMER RAF serviceman Brian Hobbs, who abused two brothers in Wootton Bassett during the late 1960s, has been jailed for a year.

Hobbs, now 63, was in his mid 20s when he babysat for the boys and took them out in his delivery van. But he used the position of trust to carry out sex attacks on the youngsters.

Lynne Matthews, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court that the victims were in the last years of primary school when the offences took place. However they waited until their parents had died before reporting the matter to the police.

In the meantime Hobbs was jailed on two separate occasions, in 1986 and 1999, for other sex attacks.

The court heard that the two victims had been greatly affected by the abuse, feeling they had dark secrets they could not discuss.

One also said he felt bad that he felt he could not report what had happened earlier and possibly prevent others suffering at Hobbs' hands.

Hobbs, of Tulse Hill, London, admitted three counts of gross indecency and one of indecent assault between March 1965 and 1969.

Suzanna Stevens, defending, said Hobbs was released from prison in 1999 and had not offended since.
