Spot on for Malmesbury

Malmesbury had no hesitation in batting on a pitch with some pace and bounce, and took advantage as they reached 137 off 29.5 overs.

Packer and Paish bowled well for Wootton Bassett, each taking a wicket, and they were followed by two early wickets from Ravi Samant.

Wood also took a wicket in his first over and Malmesbury were 57-5 having earlier been 43 for 1.

James Newman sensibly played out Ravi Samant and by now Tom Dally was well into his stride.

Their 47-run partnership, with Tom unbeaten on 53, took the home side to the relative comfort of 104.

Two wickets fell to Packer but the hat-trick ball was averted by James Pickering.

The next wicket added 24 in double quick time but Tom Dally was out, trying to hit over the top, for 73, to the bowling of Pamphilon.

He played a powerful but sensible knock, hitting 10 boundaries.

Bassett started badly with a run out.

Tom Dally and Matthew Beck bowled at the middle order and each got a wicket.

Seven successive batsmen were bowled as Ben Saunders, Robert Gillespie and Dally all took wickets.

Only Wood scored well for Bassett as they crashed to just 84 runs off 29.4 overs.
