Winners of lottery handouts

DONATIONS totalling nearly £37,000 are on their way to organisations in south Wiltshire from the Lottery Awards for All fund.

Village halls, pre-school groups, a brass band and an allotment club are among recipients of the latest round of lottery pay-outs.

Downton Band is to get £5,000 towards making its refurbished band hall suitable for community use, including providing disabled access.

Alderbury Pre-School will also receive £5,000 for disabled access to its purpose-built mobile home, and a similar sum will go to Compton Chamberlayne to upgrade the village hall to include disabled toilets and a hearing loop.

Salisbury City Art Trail will receive £4,000 towards the cost of running a two-week art trail around the city.

The Salisbury and district Samaritans will receive £2,350 to help their costs and Home-Start South Wiltshire will receive £2,253 to upgrade its computer equipment.

Hindon Allotment and Conservation Association will get £3,150 to regenerate a village allotment site.

Two awards go to Collingbourne Ducis - one for £5,000 to the village hall trust, to refurbish an outdoor play area, and £2,737 to the parish council, for a new play park to serve an isolated housing estate on the edge of the village.

The grant to the village of Hindon is the second cash handout for villagers.

The Big Lottery Fund, which gives money to the war Heroes Return project, is giving £4,000 to the Hindon branch of the Royal British Legion for the Home Front Recall Group, towards costs of events commemorating the end of World War II.
