Wanborough's Dave Haydon hits this delivery away against Wroughton Ref: 77873-09PALS Andy Foster and Duncan Mead sent records tumbling as United Churches romped to victory over Mildenhall in Division Five of the Crusader Wiltshire League.
Foster, who was only opening instead of coming in at his regular number three slot because of a late change, smashed the club record and went to joint ninth in the all-time league standings with a magnificent knock of 204 in just 139 deliveries.
Top of the Division Five averages in the last two seasons, he was eventually bowled off the penultimate ball of his side's innings, Churches having amassed 340-4.
That was the third highest total in league history and a divisional record.
His friend, Mead, had helped rattled up 164 for the opening partnership, but he played a starring role in the Mildenhall reply.
The off-spinner showed his prowess with the ball as he performed a hat-trick to finish with 3-28 and limit Mildenhall to 193-7. For the latter, Steve Cook hit 61 and Neil Osland 43.
Elsewhere in the division, Chippenham 3rd kept the pressure on Wootton Basstt 2nd at the top with an eight-wicket victory at Nettleton. The home side were bowled out for 119, Phil Martin with 30, before Rob Harrison (58) and Aaron Merryweather (28 not out) saw Chippenham home.
Warminster 3rd are still looking for a first win after being bowled out for 87 at Devizes 3rd. Ben Giles (4-27 in 10 overs) did most of the damage and Devizes went on to clinch a nine-wicket win, Steve Drewett with 33 and Paul Stevens 31 not out.
DIVISION ONE
Leaders Purton were involved in a nail-biting finish at Great Bedwyn before they lost by one wicket. Purton scored 175, but Chris Blundy (55) and Neil Maycock (47) provided the platform for Bedwyn as they won with just 11 balls remaining.
The result left the two sides in joint third and enabled Lechlade to take over the top spot after a comprehensive defeat against struggling Collingbourne.
Collingbourne reached 176-6 but Roger Pettifer (62 not out) and Paul Godding (73 not out) made light of the task as Lechlade sped to a nine-wicket victory in just 26 overs.
Wootton Bassett moved into second place as they won by five wickets at Spye Park.
Spye scored 187-6, thanks mainly to a fine 94 from Phil Allsop.
Ray Patel (76) and Joe Lukins (50) then set Bassett on their way to victory.
Box, meanwhile, clinched an eight-wicket win over Westinghouse. Stuart Wakely (39) top-scored in Westinghouse's total of 150 all out, Neil Pettit bowling a miserly spell of 2-11 in eight overs. Gerald Hayward (84) and Tony Trotman (47 not out) then steered Box to victory with 11 overs in hand.
DIVISION TWO
The meeting of the top two at Swindon Civil Service saw leaders Potterne strengthen their lead.
Civil Service scored 181-8 with Shaun Smith (55) and Mark Hayward (57) their top scorers
Graham Gaiger took 3-28 in seven overs and then struck an unbeaten 65 to see his side to an eight-wicket win.
Urchfont still seek their first win as they went down by four wickets at Blunsdon.
Chris Hambling did the damage for Blunsdon as his 5-34 haul reduced the visitors to 130. Darren Fisher (64 not out) then guided Blunsdon home with 10 overs to spare.
Nationwide House entertained Seagry and scored 195-7 with Nick Harris hitting 45, Kevin Flay 41 and Mark Flay 52.
For Seagry Paul Lewis took 3-28 in five overs and Mike Lancaster 1-35 in 12, but despite 77 from Alex Fereday and Mick Purton's unbeaten 61, Seagry finished just two runs short of victory on 194-5. Mark Morris was the pick of Nationwide's bowling with 2-61.
Runs flowed at Buscot Park where visitors Avebury made 261-8 thanks to Henry Fry's 88 and 38 from Rob Gater. Dave Steel was the pick of the bowlers with 4-48 in 11 overs.
Buscot then made a spirited reply but fell just short of their target, all out for 249, Dan Turner 52, Manny Fernandez 50 and Garry Thompson 34 as Dominic Fry took 3-50 in 12 overs.
DIVISION THREE
Swindon 3rd still lead but have had their advantage cut after slipping up against Corsham 3rd.
Corsham reached 150-9, Gavin Salter (34) and Pete Greenwood (26) the main contributors as Colin Campbell took 2-10 in five.
In reply, though, Swindon could only make 113 Nick Parkinson the top scorer with 33 as Simon Acornley did the damage with 6-32 in 10.2 overs.
The meeting of second and third pitted Wroughton against Wanborough, which resulted in a five-wicket win for the former.
Wanborough struggled for runs and were bowled out for 77, David Haydon top scoring with 16 as John
Woodcock took 4-26 in 11 overs and Michael Evans 3-11 in 11.
Roger Player (23) and John Granger (18 not out) then saw Wroughton to victory with 12 overs remaining, despite Nick Stacey taking 2-16 in nine overs and David Cox 2-23 in 10.1.
Cherhill fell at Burbage & Easton Royal, the home side hitting 164 thanks to Roger Barber's 43 and Pete Amor's 34. Mike Butt took 4-32. Cherhill were then bowled out for 118, Barber collecting 8-18 in 8.4 overs.
The meeting of the bottom two at Beanacre went in the home side's favour as they defeated Wilcot by 46 runs. Tom MacMullen (63) and Tim Rutty (30 not out) saw Beanacre to 154-6 and the former then took 4-44 as Wilcot went for 108.
Moredon Royal Oak went third as they defeated hosts Lambourn by four wickets.
Lambourn made 168 all out with Paul Annetts hitting 51 and Garry Hawkins 34.
Mike Williams (5-47 in 9.5) and Paul Martin (4-31 in 12) were the pick of the Moredon bowlers and teammates Roger Martin (55) and Mike Fargo (47) then saw them to victory with three overs to spare. David Hawkins' 4-51 in nine overs was not enough.
DIVISION FOUR
With Litten Tree not playing, Bradford Town took the chance to go top as they inflicted a first defeat on Heytesbury.
Keevil clinched a nine-wicket victory over Highworth, who scored 163-9 thanks to Tom Batchelor's 57.
Kelvin Lockwood, though, hit an unbeaten 81 and Andrew Hallett 53 as Keevil got home with four overs in hand.
Purton 2nd lost out to their counterparts from Nationwide House. Mat Pryor's 73 not out and Adam Rumbold's 42 helping Nationwide to 183-5.
Allen Lewis, with a spell of 5-24 in 12 overs, then undid the Purton batting, and despite Dave Allen's 45 and 39 from Sam Collier, Purton were bowled out for 159.
Coates continue to struggle as, after being reduced to 45-3, Bathford recovered to 279-3, Mark Robbins with all three wickets for 33.
Coates reached 191-7 in reply, Chris Lucas with 55 and Colin Harrison 31.
DIVISION SIX
A high-scoring match at Lacock saw the home side consolidate their lead with a five-wicket victory over lowly Cooper-Avon Tyres 2nd.
Cooper-Avon posted a total of 244-8 but Lacock eventually reached their target with 13 balls to spare.
Burbage 2nd slipped to a one-wicket defeat at Calne 2nd.
Darren Holcombe took 3-37 in Burbage's 209-7 and then hit 69 to help Calne to victory. Dave Matthews also hit an unbeaten 47 and Richard Annet 46.
Trowbridge A go second after a narrow win over Goatacre 3rd.
Alan Gregg (30) and Ed Jenkinson (35) helped Goatacre to 126 all out, and Jenkinson then took 5-49 to make life difficult for Trowbridge. They eventually got home, though, with six overs remaining.
Bradford Town 2nd also had a narrow win, by five runs at home to All Cannings. Bradford scored 162 all out as Richard Holman took 2-31and John Wood 2-40. Despite 41 from Richard and Graham Perrett's 42 not out, All Cannings closed on 157-8.
DIVISION SEVEN
Biddestone 3rd took over top spot as they disposed of previous leaders Collingbourne 2nd.
Biddestone rattled up 187-6 thanks to Chris Smith (39 not out) and Mike Crystal (28), and Craig Pepper and Smith then took 3-5 and 3-19 respectively as Collingbourne collapsed to 55 all out.
Chippenham 4th lost ground as they fell by 48 runs to visiting Corsham 4th, while at Marshfield, 13-year-old Chris Mackney took 3-1 in four overs for the home side's third team in their five-wicket win over Beanacre 2nd.
DIVISION EIGHT
Swindon 4th took over the leadership after a 48-run home win over Biddestone 4th.
Swindon made 179-5, with Wayne Steptoe hitting 71, and Simon Dill then took 5-13 in 12 overs to restrict Biddestone to 121-9 not out.
Potterne 2nd raced to 301-5 at home to Trowbridge B, who then collapsed to 87 all out in reply.
North Bradley stay in contention following a 99-run home win over United Churches 2nd.
Bradley made 149-9, with Led Lang taking 3-22 in 12 overs and Dave Thomas a miserly 0-9 in his 12. Churches, though, went for 50.
Warminster 4th fell at home to Spye Park 2nd, with 14-year-old Tom Young starring with an unbeaten 144 in Spye's 238-4. Paul Hughes then took 6-30 as Warminster were dismissed for 108.
Highworth 2nd entertained lowly Blunsdon 2nd and made 212-6 with Sean Close hitting 98 and Andy Furkins an unbeaten 31.
Mick Waller, with 2-31 in 12 overs, was the pick of the Blunsdon bowlers.
Blunsdon were then bowled out for 100, Chris Aubrey with 30, Close adding to his day with 6-25 in 11 overs and Nick Batchelor 2-34.
