James Douglas, centre, who has been temping at the Advertiser with Laura Mabutt, of Wise Employment, left, and Diane Powell of the Advertiser Ref: 77851-1GETTING into work at 3am and putting in a six-day week are just two of things that dedicated temp workers put into their job.
Wise Employment, in Commercial Road, Swindon, held a competition among all the companies that it sends temps to, asking for nominations of those temps who go the extra mile.
Top were Gondi Adams, who gets up frighteningly early in the morning for ANC, and Robert Nesbitt, who puts in six days a week in customer services for Medion UK.
Wise's senior branch manager Sarah Twin said: "It's national temps week but we wanted to do something locally as well.
"We wrote to clients about three weeks ago and asked for nominations of those who had performed well and why they stood out.
"It's good to give them some recognition for all the hard work that they do."
On Friday the two workers were presented with certificates and champagne for their efforts.
Wise has at least 500 temps on its books at any one time, placed in firms all over Swindon.
James Douglas, who was working in the advertising department of Newsquest, the publishers of the Evening Advertiser, was one of the runners-up.
Elsewhere, Renita Coffey, who works as a flexible employee at the Economic and Social Research Council in Swindon, has been named Pertemps' national temp of the year, having already come top in the Swindon category.
The award means she wins £500 worth of vouchers and a cup, as well as being invited to a celebratory lunch.
SJC Recruitment, in Commercial Road, named Emma Farrell as their temp of the month.
Emma has been temping at BF Image Technologies in Swindon for three months as the customer service administrator.
BF's project manager Keith Read said: "We have been very impressed with Emma's exceptional quality of work and her quick integration into the team.
"She is an extremely valuable asset to the team and subsequently will be offered a permanent position with the BF Group."
