Maloney takes over at Fairford

HELLENIC League Fairford have a new manager after outgoing Mark Webb handed the reins to his assistant Kevin Maloney.

Webb has stepped down because of work commitments but will remain at the club in a coaching capacity.

Maloney, now seeking a new No 2, paid tribute to his predecessor.

He said: "I'm looking forward to the challenge of the season ahead and will be looking for continuity of the excellent team spirit and dressing room atmosphere that has been the hallmark of Fairford since Mark and I became involved six seasons ago."

Fairford president Mike Tanner also thanked Webb for his efforts.

He said: "We are all obviously disappointed that the Webb-Maloney combination could not continue but I have every confidence in Kevin's ability and am more than pleased that Mark will still be with the club.

"I would also like to put on record my thanks to Mark for the commitment and effort he has put in over the past seasons.

"It was the same performance that he gave in the seven seasons at Cinder Lane as a player nothing less than 100 per cent.

"On a limited budget he has performed miracles stabilising our league position, winning the Gloucestershire Senior Trophy, the Floodlit Cup.

As well as an assistant, the club are seeking a new chairman and physio.

Anyone interested in these positions should contact Mike Tanner on 01285 713030.

Meanwhile, Chippenham Town could also be looking for a new boss by the end of the week.

Steve White is meeting with the board at Bath City today to discuss taking the vacant manager's chair at Twerton Park.
