'Ready for anything' says Giles

THE Wiltshire Times is still looking for sponsors to support reporter David Giles who is heading to the wilderness in aid of charity.

Giles, 24, will take part in I'm Not a Celebrity and I Have to Stay There to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust and the Wiltshire Times' 150 Fund.

Giles heads to Devon at the end of the month where he will have to build a shelter and catch food to survive.

During the challenge volunteers will divide into teams and a former Royal Marine will give a crash course on survival techniques.

"This is an excellent opportunity to help a really good cause," said Giles.

"All the companies who sponsor the event will feature in the Wiltshire Times and the Anthony Nolan Trust website, so everyone is a winner, apart from me who among other things will have to eat worm omelettes. But I'm ready for anything.

"Thanks very much to everyone who has sponsored me so far."

Sharon Wells from the Anthony Nolan trust urged people to sign up for another challenge in September.

She said: "Everyone who has been on these survival weeks has been absolutely overwhelmed with everything they learnt."

The second trip is planned in September where contestants will travel to a deserted island for a week.

Registration is £150 and a minimum sponsorship of £800 needs to be raised. For an entry form phone (01202) 600629 or text the word "Island" with your name and address to 07909 907211, or email sharon.wells@anthony nolan.org.uk
