Unbeaten Nalgo are too strong for Comptons

Unbeaten Nalgo maintained their position at the top of Division One of the Swindon Midweek League with a resounding win over Comptons.

Put into bat, they made 158-6, with Shaz Khan scoring 52 and 35s from both Shazard and Zohaib.

The Nalgo bowling was too strong for Comptons with Zaheed taking 5-19 and Zohaib 3-34 as they totalled 108-9.

Also unbeaten are Lydiard Millicent, who had little trouble beating an indifferent Swindon Mortgages.

Electing to bat first, the Mortgages were well contained by Waquar who only conceded six runs from his five overs, Dave Hayes top scored with 10 out of 48-7.

In an eventful 3.5 overs, Lydiard raced to 49 without loss as Aftab clubbed the Mortgages' bowlers to all parts of the ground for 38.

Castrol got back to winning ways at the expense of Nomads. Having won the toss, Nomads struggled against the youthful pairing of Jason McGinley (2-31) and Geoff Halls (3-18). Only Preddy made good progress, scoring 27 before James Parkinson finished off the innings with two overs, taking 3-7. Nomads closed on 75-9.

Marc Williamson was the backbone of the Castrol reply (22 not out), opening with Anthony Spencer, who made an aggressive 20.

Arran Dickinson made a quick fire 21 not out as Castrol passed the Nomads total with just one wicket down.

At the bottom, Nationwide 1 suffered another defeat, this time to Soutwest Fasteners. Mick Harris and Eddie Roofe proved yet again to be the mainstay of the Nationwide batting, making 62 not out and 44 respectively as they totalled 132-3.

Blundon then smashed his way to an unbeaten 70 as Southwest reached 133-5.

Winterbourne Bassett lead Division Two after a two-wicket victory over Wanborough. Truqunna (87) and McMurray (34) laid a solid foundation as Wanborough reached 140-2.

It was not quite enough as Bassett managed 142-8 with 56-year-old Des Clarke unbeaten on 40 and hitting the winning run off the last ball.

Wroughton Wranglers kept up with them as they beat WH Smith by six wickets. Smiths had to thank Bullock, his 43 helping them to 99-8.

In reply Mark McMeeking made 38 not out and was ably supported by Phil Woodcock as the Wranglers got to 100-4 in the last over.

Purton are close on their heels as they triumphed over the Fox & Hounds.

Batting first they made 93-3 with contributions in the 20s from Dave Allen, Neil Allen, Lee Stephens and Elliott Hill.

The Fox & Hounds then received a mauling from Joe Dunn as he took 8-21 that reduced them to 75 all out.

Swindon Litten Tree remain unbeaten in Division Three as Mark Brown made 66 out of 123-6 against Phoenix.

Crookes with 3-30 and Samsom 3-34 then dismissed Phoenix for 108, only Smith offering resistance with 33.

Intel recorded their first victory as Will Books hit 54 and Matt Hains's personal best of 32 not out helped them to 122-4. Ashbury could not manage the run chase and ended on 65-7.

RWE Swindon made 97-5 with Morley hitting 48. Monahans were left with all available eight wickets falling for just 58.

Foster made 63 and Oliver 30 as United Churches ran up 159-3. Laing then took 4-32 as Sevenfields could only manage a reply of 129-5 with Holt scoring 42 and Seller unbeaten on 40.

Nationwide 3 recorded their first win of the season in Division Four as they beat a weakened L&K Skips at Pipers Way. Skips batted first and made 102-6. Joe Perkins was the main contributor with 46 as Nationwide easily reached 103-4.

Wootton Bassett returned to winning ways as Anchor made 76-7, the Wootton then comfortably reaching 77-2 from just 10 overs.
