Peach joins critics in OAP wardens row

FORMER member of the Tory administration Allan Peach has savaged Salisbury district council for failing to consult pensioners over its controversial wardens' shake-up.

The independent councillor for Amesbury, who resigned from the ruling Conservative group after being deselected before the May county council elections, said the housing department had "handled this very badly" and he was concerned at the way older people's services were being run.

Mr Peach said OAPs had never been asked what they thought about the changes and that the decision to remove wardens from the 22 council-owned complexes across the district was all down to council policy.
