Stepping out to raise money for lifeboat institute

A CHARITY walking event for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution is being held on Wednesday.

The fundraiser features three walks which all start at 10am from the County Ground Lifestyle Centre, and centre manager Fran Pound said they may

reveal parts of the town even locals don't know exist.

"One of the walks takes in the route of the old canal, which is very pretty and I'm sure will be a surprise to people who haven't yet discovered it," she said.

The three walks will all be led by centre staff and are one, two and a half and three miles in length.

The event is timed to coincide with the RNLI's national SOS Day which aims to raise awareness of the work of the charity.

Sponsorship forms and further information are available from Fran Pound at the Country Ground Lifestyle Centre telephone 01793 511033.
