Artist inspires children's creative side

Artist Alex Walker with St Mary's pupils Katie, Ed, Rebecca, Daniel, Lewis and Holly (17091)PUPILS at a village primary school were able to express their creative side through a display of art and music.

Chippenham artist Alex Walker visited children at St Mary's Primary School, in Broughton Gifford, last Wednesday and gave them lots of handy tips and ideas for their own work.

Each child was given the task of creating a panel for a wall hanging, based on creation. The panels were then put on display in the school.

Two parents also got involved in the art week by helping children create an 8ft wide by 5ft high mosaic.

The mosaic, based on Noah's Ark, was made from pebbles and broken tiles.

Headteacher Pat Rogers said: "It was a great week, which was very well supported by the parents."

The arts week finished off with a concert in which every child in the school performed.

St Mary's also hosted homoeopath Andrew Ward when he discussed his profession with parents and villagers.

Mr Ward described how homoeopathy is becoming the most widely used and trusted alternative system of medicine in the UK, and is available on the NHS.

Homoeopathy can be used to treat conditions in babies and children such as, sleeplessness, birth trauma, colic, teething and eczema.
