Lift scheme for school is now offthe ground

A NEW lift is being installed at Kingsdown School. The lift will open up the first floor of the building to disabled people.

Peter Webber, head of the Humanities faculty, said: "This lift is really for access and it's part of our technology bid.

He added: "This has made it much easier for technicians to move science equipment around the building, especially between floors.

"We also have a couple of parents who are in wheelchairs, and they will be able to come to meetings now."

Mr Webber said the school does not have any students with permanent disabilities.

He said: "The lift will not make the school a Disability Access School but in the longer term that could happen.

"We have another two-floor block so we would have to work on that first.

"We've waited a long time for this type of accessibility."
