Surgery's heartfelt thanks

There's a new buzz in the air at Tinkers Lane Surgery after the donation of a quick start defibrillator by Wootton Bassett Rotary Club.

The new machine replaces a much older and heavier one and its arrival has been met with excitement by the doctors and nurses.

Surgery manager Sandra Walklett, who took over in February, said: "The nurses were absolutely gobsmacked because it's so much lighter and easier to use than the old one, which was pretty ancient.

"We're very grateful to the Rotary Club because it is a piece of equipment that will help save lives together with the skills of our clinicians."

The defibrillator cost £1,100 and has been funded by events organised by the Rotary club over the last year. Rotary club member, Phillipa Lawrence said: "Many people of Wootton Bassett will benefit, which is brilliant news as the money raised was due to the generosity of the town and residents of Wootton Bassett."

The Rotary club has also raised funds to buy a new examination couch, costing £350. This was presented to New Court Surgery on Monday night.
