£23,000 theft

A £23,000 diamond ring has been stolen from a Cirencester jeweller's. The 1.5 carat sparkler set in platinum went missing from John Titcombe Jewellers in Market Place at around 2pm last Wednesday.

Police suspect a man and woman who left the store apparently empty-handed moments before the theft was discovered.

A display cabinet was unlocked while the couple were in store.

The male, who was aged 40 to 45, had a stocky build and was around 5ft 8ins tall. He had a round face, which was clean-shaven, and short hair. He wore a black leather jacket and dark trousers. He had a foreign accent.

The woman was of a similar age and about 5ft 5ins tall.
