King Kenny swaps the Reds for the greens

FOOTBALL legend Kenny Dalglish swapped the Reds of Liverpool for the greens of a Wiltshire golf course.

King Kenny, as he was dubbed when he was Anfield's number seven, is now more interested in a different kind of pitch the type with putting involved.

He visited Marlborough Golf Club this week to launch Callaway Golf's corporate logo printing service.

Kenny, who also played for Celtic and Scotland is an ambassador for Callaway Golf, and joined a group of industry guests and media for a friendly competition and golf trick show to mark the printing work's opening.

Hosting the day was Callaway Golf Europe managing director Neil Howie, of Chiseldon.

Mr Howie, a three-times club champion at Marlborough and former Wiltshire county team player, said: "We were very excited about Kenny joining us for the day. Having been a member here since I was 11 years old, it was a privilege to see such a legendary name from the world of football teeing it up around my home course."

Callaway Golf is one of the world's leading golf equipment manufacturers with global sales of more than $1bn a year.

As well as making clubs and golf balls for millions of amateur golfers, the golf equipment giant also sponsors many top professional players, including men's world number four Phil Mickelson, and women's world number one Annika Sorenstam.

Mr Howie, who started his working life with local aggregates firm Hills, is responsible for 240 employees, most of whom are based at the company's HQ in Chessington, Surrey.
